LinkedIn API errorsand how to fix them.
When LinkedIn rejects a request, Siar stores the network's own code and message on the post and returns it to you unchanged, so what you read here matches what you see in the API. Back to the LinkedIn API.
Where a code is shown it is the network's own code or HTTP status. Messages are abridged where LinkedIn's text is long.
401 65601
Message
The token used in the request has been revoked by the user.
What it means. The member removed the app, or the 60-day access token expired.
How to fix it. Reconnect the LinkedIn account; Siar cannot refresh tokens unless LinkedIn approved refresh for the app.
403 ACCESS_DENIED
Message
Not enough permissions to access: partnerApiPostsExternal.CREATE
What it means. The token is missing a scope, or the app is not approved for the Community Management API.
How to fix it. Reconnect and accept every permission; organization posting needs the app approved for Community Management.
422 duplicate
Message
Content is a duplicate of urn:li:share:…
What it means. The same commentary was posted by this author recently.
How to fix it. Change the text; LinkedIn blocks identical posts.
422 empty
Message
Content cannot be empty
What it means. A post needs commentary even when it has media.
How to fix it. Add text to the post.
429
Message
Resource level throttle APPLICATION DAY limit for calls to this resource is reached.
What it means. The app used its daily quota for this endpoint (resets at midnight UTC).
How to fix it. Siar retries after the reset.
426 NONEXISTENT_VERSION
Message
Requested version 20230101 is not active
What it means. The LinkedIn-Version Siar sends has been retired.
How to fix it. Update Siar; this is not something you can change per post.
400 media
Message
Media asset urn:li:image:… is not available.
What it means. An uploaded asset was not found, expired, or is still processing.
How to fix it. Siar waits for videos and documents to become AVAILABLE; re-upload an image if it keeps failing.
400 commentary
Message
Unpermitted fields present in REQUEST_BODY
What it means. A field combination LinkedIn does not allow (for example CONTAINER visibility without a container).
How to fix it. Use PUBLIC, CONNECTIONS or LOGGED_IN unless the post is inside a container.
404
Message
Not Found
What it means. The post or comment was deleted, or belongs to another author.
How to fix it. Check it still exists on LinkedIn.

Message
(no error — the post is cut off at the first unescaped ( or [ )
What it means. Reserved characters in commentary were not escaped.
How to fix it. Siar escapes them for you; use the mentions builder for @mentions.
Where to see an error
Read a failed post with GET /post/{id}: the error field summarises it, errors lists it per network and errorsVerbose keeps the detail. A post.published webhook fires when the post reaches a final state. Retry with POST /post/{id}/retry. Limits that Siar enforces itself are on the LinkedIn page.
