Message

What it means. The TikTok app has not passed the Content Posting audit; only SELF_ONLY posts are allowed.
How to fix it. Post with privacy SELF_ONLY until the app is audited.
privacy_level_option_mismatch
Message
privacy_level is not one of the creator's privacy_level_options.
What it means. The creator's account does not offer that privacy level (e.g. private accounts cannot post PUBLIC_TO_EVERYONE).
How to fix it. Pick one of the levels creator_info returns for this account.
spam_risk_too_many_posts
Message
The daily post cap for this creator was reached.
What it means. TikTok limits direct posts per creator per day (about 15).
How to fix it. Retry tomorrow or post fewer times a day.
spam_risk_user_banned_from_posting
Message
The user is banned from posting.
What it means. TikTok blocked this creator from posting.
How to fix it. The creator resolves it with TikTok.
access_token_invalid
Message
The access token is invalid or not found in the request.
What it means. The grant expired or was revoked.
How to fix it. Reconnect the TikTok account.
scope_not_authorized
Message
The user did not authorize the scope required for completing this request.
What it means. video.publish or video.upload was not granted.
How to fix it. Reconnect and approve every requested permission.
url_ownership_unverified
Message
The URL prefix is not verified for this app.
What it means. PULL_FROM_URL needs the media domain verified in the TikTok developer portal.
How to fix it. Verify the media domain, or use FILE_UPLOAD.
rate_limit_exceeded
Message
API rate limit exceeded.
What it means. Too many requests for this token (e.g. 6/min for init).
How to fix it. Retry after a minute.
duration_check_failed
Message
Video duration exceeds the creator's max_video_post_duration_sec.
What it means. The video is longer than this creator may post.
How to fix it. Trim the video.
file_format_check_failed
Message
Unsupported media format.
What it means. Video must be MP4/WebM/MOV (H.264/H.265/VP8/VP9); photos JPEG/WebP.
How to fix it. Re-encode the media.
picture_size_check_failed
Message
Picture size check failed.
What it means. Photos must be at most 1080p and 20 MB.
How to fix it. Resize the image.
reached_active_user_cap
Message
The daily quota for active publishing users was reached.
What it means. Unaudited apps are capped at a few active creators per day.
How to fix it. Complete the TikTok audit to raise the cap.
40001
Message
No permission to operate this business account.
What it means. Business API: the token lacks the scope or the account is not a business account.
How to fix it. Reconnect with withBusinessScope and approve comment scopes.
40105
Message
Access token is invalid or expired.
What it means. Business API token expired and could not be refreshed.
How to fix it. Reconnect the TikTok account.
Where to see an error
Read a failed post with GET /post/{id}: the error field summarises it, errors lists it per network and errorsVerbose keeps the detail. A post.published webhook fires when the post reaches a final state. Retry with POST /post/{id}/retry. Limits that Siar enforces itself are on the TikTok page.
