Where a code is shown it is the network's own code or HTTP status. Messages are abridged where YouTube's text is long.
401 authError
Message
Invalid Credentials
What it means. The access token expired or the user revoked access in their Google account.
How to fix it. Siar refreshes automatically; if it still fails, reconnect the YouTube account.
403 quotaExceeded
Message
The request cannot be completed because you have exceeded your quota.
What it means. The Google Cloud project spent its daily quota (uploads have their own videos.insert bucket; other calls share 10,000 units).
How to fix it. Wait for midnight Pacific time, or request a quota extension for the project.
400 uploadLimitExceeded
Message
The user has exceeded the number of videos they may upload.
What it means. The channel hit its daily upload limit.
How to fix it. Verify the channel by phone to raise the limit, or try again in 24 hours.
403 forbidden (thumbnails)
Message
The authenticated user doesn't have permissions to upload and set custom video thumbnails.
What it means. Custom thumbnails need a verified channel.
How to fix it. Verify the channel at youtube.com/verify. The video itself is still posted.
401 youtubeSignupRequired
Message
Unauthorized
What it means. The Google account has no YouTube channel.
How to fix it. Create a channel at youtube.com and reconnect.
400 invalidTitle
Message
The request metadata specifies an invalid or empty video title.
What it means. The title is empty, longer than 100 characters, or contains < or >.
How to fix it. Use a title of 1 to 100 characters without angle brackets.
400 invalidDescription
Message
The request metadata specifies an invalid video description.
What it means. The description is over 5,000 bytes or contains < or >.
How to fix it. Shorten it and remove angle brackets.
409 videoAlreadyInPlaylist
Message
Video already in playlist.
What it means. The video is already in that playlist.
How to fix it. Nothing to do, or remove it first.
403 commentsDisabled
Message
The video identified by the videoId parameter has disabled comments.
What it means. Comments are turned off on this video.
How to fix it. Turn comments on in YouTube Studio.
uploadStatus rejected
Message
rejectionReason: duplicate | copyright | claim | length | termsOfUse …
What it means. YouTube finished processing and refused the video.
How to fix it. Read the reason in the post error; fix the content and post again.
locked private
Message
privacyStatus came back private although public was requested.
What it means. Videos uploaded by an API project that has not passed the YouTube API compliance audit are locked private.
How to fix it. Complete the audit for the Google Cloud project, then re-upload.
Where to see an error
Read a failed post with GET /post/{id}: the error field summarises it, errors lists it per network and errorsVerbose keeps the detail. A post.published webhook fires when the post reaches a final state. Retry with POST /post/{id}/retry. Limits that Siar enforces itself are on the YouTube page.
